Summer reading programs this year will be in person, out-doors events this year! We’ll have bubbles, the frozen t-shirt challenge, tie-dyeing, an ice-cream party, and more! See the list below for dates and descriptions.

6/22 SRP Kickoff! Summer Reading registration starts at 10:30
Squam Lakes Animal Outreach Program: “No Two Tails Alike” 11:00am. Bring your own blanket! Attend the Animal Outreach presentation, register for summer reading and pick up your reading chart! 6/24 Rain Date: Squam Lakes Animal Outreach Program 11am
6/29 2pm Bubble Bash — Play with bubbles tiny and giant, and make your own bubble solution to take home! (Registration Required) 7/1 2pm Rain Date: Bubble Bash
6/30 3pm Mermaid/Shark Tail Suncatcher Craft Use coffee filters and markers combined with wax crayons to make a cool tail that will catch the sun and brighten up your summer. (Registration Required) Rain or shine!
7/6 1pm Tie Dye Together Party— Bring something to tie-dye! Plain, clean white cotton works best. We’ll provide the dye, rubber-bands, string, and everything else. (Registration Required) Rain or shine!
7/8 2pm ShrinkyDinks Key-Chain– Make a plastic key-chain or necklace charm you can keep! Free-draw your favorite animal, or choose one of our templates to trace– featuring Among Us, Minecraft, and much more. (Registration Required. 7/13 1pm-3 Tail Tales: Animal Stories Writing Workshop For writers of all ages– Participants will need to be able to write independently. We’ll do some writing, some sharing, and some of our favorite writing games! (Registration Required) Rain or shine!
7/15 Out-Door I Spy: Starts at 1pm. We’ve turned the library grounds into an I-Spy book! Search and find all of the “things” on the list and snap or draw pictures of them. Come back to the library to claim a prize book when you find them all. Items will stay out over the weekend to give you plenty of time to find them. 7/16 1pm Rain Date: Outdoor I-spy start time
Week of 7/19 Grab and Go Craft: Animal Tail Bookmark
7/21 1pm Build a Fairy or Mouse House: We’ll turn the library side-lawn into a fairy-haven! Join us and come make a house for a mouse or a fairy out of natural materials from around our grounds! We’ll help provide interesting building materials, but registrants may also bring natural materials from their yards at home if they wish! (Registration Required) 7/23 1pm Rain Date Fairy/Mouse House

Week of 8/2 Grab and Go Craft: Paper Pythons
8/4 11:00am Storytime and Stuffed Animal Safari Bring your own blanket for your family– and a stuffed animal to join the safari! We’ll be jazzing up storytime by making our own Stuffed Animal Safari around the library lawn. We’ll have several different ecosystems set up, and we’ll find the right one for your stuffy to go play in. During storytime, we’ll take a safari journey around the ecosystems to see all the animals, and bring them back to our blankets to finish storytime. Each animal stuffy will get to choose a book to take home! (Registration Required)
8/11 11:00am Yoga for Wee “Animals”: An Animal-Inspired Yoga Family Storytime, featuring kid-friendly yoga with Brianna Renner. We all need some movement and meditation this year– especially our little ones. Bring your own blanket for your family! Rain or Shine!
8/12 2-3pm Ice Cream Party Celebrate a summer of reading at our annual Ice Cream Party! The Ice Cream will once again be provided by Sanctuary Dairy Farm in Sunapee. Registration required but not limited– we’ll stagger times, so if 2:00 is full, you can register for 2:30 or 3. Participants will be able to choose prize books donated by our community to take home!
